Trip Introduction

Gosaikunda and Langtang valley trek-15 days is the closest trip on the Himalayan region from Kathmandu valley. A few hours’ drive from Kathmandu will takes you to the beautiful Langtang valley, where you will see the tranquil remote landscape, people following Himalayan Buddhism with living style and culture similar to Tibet. The area is naturally as well as culturally outstanding, though becomes one of the popular destination nearby Kathmandu. This trek will offer a varieties of Rhododendron, huge Bamboo forest, beautiful landscape, snowcapped mountains range and rich wild life including Red Pandas.  

Following local trail upstream Bhote Koshi River through the ethnic Tamang villages, lush green forest and the wide spread Langtang valley with a view of splendid mountains from all sides. Retrace the trail to the Shin Gompa to a high plateau at the sacred lake Gosaikunda. The trail even is in habitat by the shy Red Pandas. Watch the sunrise over a multitude of sparkly lakes of this holy site. The place Gosaikunda is believed to be created by Lord Shiva with his “Trishul”. Here you can see more than 108 small lakes including Bhairav Kunda and Saraswati Kunda as core.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu - Altitude: 1,400 m
Our airport representative will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu upon your arrival. He/she will escort you to the respective hotel in a private vehicle. Your prior trip meeting will be scheduled on the very day at the hotel before dinner. However, our airport representative will give you a brief idea about the second day’s schedule on your way to the hotel. During this meeting, we will introduce you to your leader/guide. Please do not hesitate to ask questions about your trek or anything that is related to your trip. 

Note: If you happen to arrive after 4 pm you would be briefed about the trip by our guide, this will be the pre-trip meeting for you, so please make sure that you ask all the questions. But if you arrive earlier than 4 pm, your pre-trip meeting would be on that very day at our office. During the meeting, we will introduce your trek leader/guide. For the meeting, please make sure you bring the passport, three copies of passport-size photos and a readable copy of your travel insurance policy. During this meeting, please clear the due balance, if any, and sign the legally binding trip form as well as the non-liability disclaimer.

Day 02: Guided Sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley | Total duration: 4-5 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
After a hearty breakfast, at 8.30 am your sightseeing trip will start. You will have a private vehicle and a professional tour guide at your disposal. Today you will visit some heritages listed below:

Pashupatinath Temple:  Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most significant Hindu temples of Lord Shiva in the world, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. Though you are not allowed to go inside the temple as it is strictly for Hindus only, you can clearly see the temple and the activities from the eastern bank of the Bagmati River. It is a square two-tiered pagoda temple built on a single-tier plinth which is famous all over the world.

Boudhanath Stupa: Boudhanath is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Kathmandu. It was built in the 5th century with four pairs of eyes of Lord Buddha in four cardinal directions keeping an eternal watch over the people and their doings. You will find Buddhist pilgrims from Tibet going around the stupa spinning the prayer wheels.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square: Visit the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the Royal Residential Quarter of Bhupatindra Malla, the famous five-storied temple of Nyatapola in Pagoda style Batsala temple, Bhairavnath temple, Duttatraya temple, Pujari Muth and Palace of 55 windows.

The rest of our time in Kathmandu is free for further exploration and some last-minute shopping in Thamel area for trekking essentials.

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Syabrubesi - Altitude: 1420 m | Total duration: 8-9 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
After Breakfast, re-check your baggage and get ready for a long drive to Syabrubesi. Taking a turning to the northern highway to the Trishuli River valley, enjoy the picturesque landscape, mountain scenery and hamlets. Also, catch the magnificent view of Ganesh Himal, Mt. Manaslu and Mt. Kerung of Tibet as well. You will stop at Syabrubesi for your overnight stay at a local lodge.

Day 04: Trek Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel - Altitude: 2340 m | Total duration: 5-6 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
Begins trek from Syabrubesi with gently walk for a while, then ascend the trail through the terraced field and the forest of oaks, maple, alder, and bamboo. On your way, you might see some yellow-throated martin, wild boar, Himalayan black bear, and red panda as well as varieties of Birds. Crossing some streams and a bridge, you will walk along the small Tea-shops. Then, ascending steeply along the trail, cross a steel suspension bridge and walk along the Langtang River, you will pass through the Bamboo forest that takes you to the Lama Hotel where you will spend your overnight.

Day 05: Trek Lama Hotel to Langtang village - Altitude: 3480 m | Total duration: 5-6 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
Today, you will walk on an ascending trail that gets slightly steeper as you hike up and the trail continues along the dense forest. Cross a log bridge and further climbing steeply up, you will reach Ghoratabela. Here, you can see several lodges and a national park check post. Further, the trails lead you to the wide valley, even see water-driven mills, yak pastures as well as the prayer wheels, mani walls that represent the Himalayan culture. Passing a stream, you will reach at a beautiful Langtang Village settled by the Tamang and Sherpas. Spend overnight at the local lodge.

Day 06: Trek Langtang village to Kyanjing Gompa - Altitude: 3870 m | Total duration: 3-4 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
Today, you will have a gentle walk towards Kyanjing Gompa. You will walk through the rich yak pastures and interesting traditional villages of Mumdu to Singdun. Passing stone mani wall and a wooden cantilever bridge, you will reach the last village of Langtang- the Kyanjing Gompa. Here, you can explore the monastery, Yak cheese factory, and beautiful locals. The village is even more beautified with a background view of Mt. Langtang Lirung and Mt. Ganchempo. Spend overnight at the local lodge.

Day 07: Rest day at Kyanjin Gompa - Altitude: 3870m | Total duration: 3-4 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
You have free time to take proper rest and for self-exploration around Langtang. It is a time for better and closer view Mt. Lirung.  You have an option either to climb Tsergo Ri (4984 m) or Kyanjing-Ri (4700 m); even go for a glacier walk or Langshisa Kharka depending on your fitness and interest. The amazing view of snowcapped mountains spreading right next to you and walking up the moraine viewing spectacular mountain ridges and undulating glaciers will be overwhelming.

Day 08: Trek Kyanjin Gumpa to Lama Hotel - Altitude: 2340 m | Total duration: 6-7 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
Today, you will retrace your journey back to Lama Hotel following the Langtang Khola on a downhill trail. You will have a pleasant walk along the rhododendron forest to Lama Hotel where you will spend your overnight at the local lodge.

Day 09: Trek Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru Village - Altitude: 1900 m | Total duration: 5-6 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
After breakfast, take the downhill route to the Thulo Syabru. With an easy walk through a green forest of Bamboo and Rhododendron, you can see local wild boar, other animals, and pleasing birds; passes streams and very few tea shops. En-route, you can have a marvelous and close-up view of Ganesh Himal. A steep uphill walk at the end will take you to Thulo Syabru. Here, you will be accommodated in a local lodge for overnight stay.

Day 10: Trek Thulo Syabru to Shin Gompa - Altitude: 3330 m | Total duration: 4-5 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
Starts walking on a broad trail with climbing up to Dimsa village and continues to walk in a slightly steep trail passing Rhododendron and Oak forest towards Shin Gompa. The trail fascinates the magnificent views of Langtang Himal and beautiful valley. Once you reach at Shin Gompa, you can visit one of the popular Cheese Factory. Spend overnight at the local lodge.

Day 11: Trek Shin Gompa to Gosainkunda Lake - Altitude: 4380 m | Total duration: 4-5 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
Today, you will smoothly walk on ascending trail through a point passing forested area to Laurebina. The trail in-between is the sanctuary of the Red Panda-the endogenous species. Continuing walking up to the ridge, you will climb a wider route through the alpine country taking you to the sacred land-the Gosai Kinda. Explore and enjoy the beautiful lakes including Bhairab Kunda and Saraswati Kunda. Spend overnight at Gosaikunda.

Day 12: Trek Gosaikunda to Laurebina - Altitude: 3910 m | Total duration: 4-5 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
After viewing the sunrise over the sparkling lakes, retrace your journey back to Laurebina. You will walk downhill and stay overnight at the local lodge.

Day 13: Trek Laurebina to Dhunche - Altitude: 1650 m | Total duration: 3-4 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
Starts to trek in an ascending trail that takes you to Chandanbari. You can explore a Cheese factory and rest for a while. Now onwards, the trail would be steeply downhill to Deurali through the forested path will bring an easy trail towards Dhunche. Spend overnight at the local lodge.

Day 14: Drive back to Kathmandu - Altitude: 1350 m | Total duration: 3-4 hours | Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch
After breakfast, catch a bus to drive back to Kathmandu. On your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be escorted to the Hotel. Take your time to refresh yourself with hot shower and rest. 

Day 15: Departure from Kathmandu - Altitude: 1350 m | Meals Included: Breakfast
It is the last day with us. Our supporting team will take you to the airport for your final departure. We hope to see you again. Additionally, if you have a plan of any adjoining trip, you can let us organize.

Physical Condition and requirement

Walking in higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking in the lower altitudes, however, if we are in excellent health with average physical fitness, have a positive attitude, self-confidence, and strong determination, we can accomplish the trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is a good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is important that we consult with our doctor before we decide and set up for the trek. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Treks Planner Nepal before booking the trek.

Trekking in the Himalayan region goes through unexpected complication like natural and health challenges resulting in changes in the itinerary for your own security reason, If such an incident happens during the trek our professional Guide, Porters and leader take you to final point safely for evacuation so, please be friendly with your guide for more achievements and protections. Flights in the Himalayan region often get canceled even in the best season due to bad weather so we request our travelers to carry luggage for extra days.
