Trip Introduction

Short Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the popular trekking routes in Annapurna area in Nepal. This trekking package is specially designed for those trekkers, who is looking to explore the Annapurna region, in the minimum possible time. Short Annapurna Circuit Trek takes you along the horseshoe shaped fascinating trail that encircles amazing Annapurna is the world’s most popular trek beyond doubt. It is the most frequented trek in Nepal as well.

The trek highlights exceedingly beautiful Manang Valley settled by the endogenous Gurung. The cultural encounters in numerous ethnically inhabited villages are the wonders of Nepal’s cultural diversity seen during the trek. The floral and faunal biodiversity of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project is great sights. The rawness of nature that include pure cascading waterfalls, Rocky Mountains and deep gorges are mesmerizing.

The most important highlights of the trek are the Himalayan vista from the top of the Thorung La Pass. The incredibly adventurous walk to the top of the Thorung La Pass and down to Muktinath is beautifully challenging. The shifting views of Annapurna and its neighboring peaks are always the prime highlights of Annapurna Circuit Trek. Last but not the least Jomsom the last stopover point of the trek is simply cherry on the top.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu International Airport, transfer to Hotel (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. )
On your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, one of our office representatives will pick up you and escort you to the hotel as well as help you to check-in at the hotel. After refreshment, you will be briefed about the next day trip.

Day 02:   Drive to Besisahar (Altitude: 760 m/ 2510 ft.)
Total duration: Drive: 8-9 hrs. – bus/ 6 hrs. – Jeep
Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

After having breakfast, our guide will meet you at the hotel to drive to Besisahar. Recheck your luggage and be ready for a drive. Following River Marshyangdi, you will reach Besisahar. On the way, you can explore the Green Mountain, scattered village and refreshing landscape. Stay overnight at local lodge.

Day 03: Jeep drive to Chame (Stopover for acclimatization) (Altitude: 2670 m/8810 ft.)
Total duration: 7-8hours

From Besisahar, catching a local bus, you will start to drive in a bumpy road towards Chame. It is a small village of the Annapurna Region at an elevation of 1430 m. You can enjoy the waterfall that attracts both the local and tourists. Stay overnight at local lodge.

Day 04: Trek Chame to Pisang (Altitude: 3200 m/10524 ft.)
Total duration: 5-6 hours

Today, you will have a steep walk through the dense forest into a narrowed valley. Crossing the raging Himalayan River at two points 2,910m & 3,040m are absolute highlights of the trek. Just crossing a suspension bridge at 3040m, the stunning view of Rocky Hill Paungda Danda feasts catch by the eyes. Beyond here, the course connects towards Pisang on a steep trail. Pisang nestles between 3,200m and 3,300meters. Stay overnight at local lodge.

Day 05: Trek Pisang to Manang, Overnight at the local lodge (Altitude: 3400 m/11152 ft.)
Total duration: 5-6 hours

After breakfast, you will walk through the arid & higher region of Manang.  As you trek higher, the region affected being at the rain shadow of Annapurna comes into sight. Natives of this county flock yak most of the times of the year and cultivate crops for a very short period of the year. As you leave Pisang, you will tread along the northern via Ghyaru for the better views of the Himalayan peaks throughout the trail that chases along the northern bank of the river. Now, you will arrive at Munchi. Beyond Munchi, the trail passes the charming and the authentic village of Braga 3475m. The last push brings to Manang.


Day 06: Acclimatization day at Manang (Altitude: 3400 m/11152 ft.)
Total duration: 5 hours

Today, instead of heading further, we spend the day in Manang for the purpose of acclimatization. Being active is the best way to acclimatize. Therefore, we can either spend the day visiting a Milarepa’s cave or half-day hiking to Khangsar or climbing Chhongar viewpoint or visiting ancient monasteries or simply exploring the settlement of Manang. Any option you choose will help you in the process of acclimatization, plus help you enjoy the attraction of Manang. Overnight in a lodge in Manang. 

Day 07: Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4,050m/13,287ft)
Total duration: 4-5 hours

you trek from Manang to Yak Kharka after breakfast, the uphill climb through alpine forest and juniper bushes is steep for about one and a half hour. After passing Tangki and Ghusang the trail becomes easy up till the Yak Kharka. You can enjoy the view of Annapurna III, Gangapurna and Tilicho peak along the way. Overnight in a lodge in Yak KKharka.

Day 08: Trek from Yak Kharka to High Camp (4,833m/15,856ft)
Total duration: 5 hours

You trek from Yak Kharka to the High Camp. The trail leading to High Camp from Yak Kharka is wide, but steep up till Letdar.  From Letdar, we will continue, crossing the bridge across the Kone River, finally reach Thorung Phedi and from there we hike all the way up to the High camp. The high camp greets us with a splendid panorama of  Annapurna peaks, Yakwakang, and Chulu West. Overnight in a lodge in high camp.

Day 09: Trek from high camp to Muktinath (3,760m/12,335ft) via Thorung La Pass (5,416m)
Total duration: 8 hours

Starting high camp, we walk all the way to Muktinath. We start early in the morning and continue up on a steep trail. It takes about 4 hours to reach the pass. Once we are on the pass, you can see the view of summits rising above 6000m along with a beautiful view of the Kali Gandaki Valley and Yakwakang. Now we will hike down to the Temple of Muktinath (the very famous shrine of Hindu and Buddhist). By the time you reach Muktinath, you will be tired. So, we will spend the remaining time resting our tired muscles. Overnight in a lodge in Muktinath.

Day 10: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom (2,720m/8,923ft)
Total duration: 5-6 hours

You will trek from Muktinath to Jomsom. However, before heading towards Jomsom, we will visit the temple of Jwala Mai, then hike down to Jharkot to explore the ruins of the original palace of the King of Mustang and a few chortens and monasteries around Jharkot. Now, we will walk down to Kaag Beni. From Kaag Beni, following the old salt trade route, we will hike all the way down to Jomsom. In the evening, we spend our time exploring the Jomsom area. Overnight in a lodge in Jomsom.

Day 11: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara
Meals Included: Breakfast

There is no direct flight from Jomsom to Kathmandu. Therefore, today we fly from Jomsom to Pokhara. Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara is early in the morning. This flight is very thrilling as it flies through the Kali Gandaki gorge. From the airport in Kathmandu, we will transfer you to the hotel booked for you in Pokhara. Overnight in a tourist standard hotel in Pokhara.

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Today we drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu in Tourist sharing vehicle. We will transfer you to the hotel booked for you in Kathmandu. Overnight in a tourist standard hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 13: Final departure

Today is the last day of your trip in Nepal with Treks Planner Nepal. Therefore, if your flight is scheduled early in the morning, one of our company representatives will drive you to the airport as per your flight departure time, after breakfast. However, if your flight is scheduled in the evening, you can go shopping around the popular markets in Kathmandu and later we will transfer you to the airport as per your flight schedule. Physical Condition and requirement

Walking at higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking in the lower altitudes, however, if we are in excellent health with average physical fitness, have a positive attitude, self confidence and a strong determination33 , we can accomplish the trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is a good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset, but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is important that we consult with our doctor before we decide and set up for the Annapurna Circuit Trek. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Treks Planner Nepal before booking the trek.
